This was a bigger job than most routine visits. The homeowner scheduled a full system service, and once we got into it, there was enough going on to justify covering the whole system instead of just the ducts.
The blower compartment was the worst of it. The wiring label on the motor was buried under a dark, matted layer of dust, hard enough to read so you’d have to guess at the specs. The return grille had the same story, dust packed into every slat. Inside the duct collar near the filter track, we also found some rust staining on the metal itself, not dust but actual corrosion that had been sitting there a while.
We cleaned the full system top to bottom, including plenum, duct runs, blower compartment, and coil. We also replaced the air filter and did a few minor repairs along the way. Worth being upfront about the rust: cleaning clears out dust and buildup, but it doesn’t undo corrosion that’s already eaten into the metal, so a faint trace of that staining is still visible even after the service.
